How fit do I need to be?
Depending on the challenge, a certain level of baseline fitness/mobility would be required. However, you can achieve an awful lot in a relatively short time frame if you put your mind to it and my aim is to help you get prepared enough to not only achieve the challenge but enjoy it! You will also be in a group with people of similar abilities.
Does it matter if I've never done this before?
No, absolutely not! This is the whole point of these challenges, to push yourself out of your comfort zone to get the maximum sense of achievement. You will receive professional support and guidance from start to finish.
How much time will be needed for preparation?
My aim is to release challenge dates with approximately 3 months lead time for preparation which will include 12 PT sessions and a programme to follow outside of PT time. Once I have established your current fitness level, I can better advise on total preparation time for individual members of the group.
Will I need specialist equipment?
Advice is taken from the professional guides that are hired to lead each of the challenges. Kit will certainly be weather dependent, some good layers, lightweight waterproofs, comfortable and supportive walking boots/shoes. These things don't need to cost a fortune, you certainly wont be needing to learn how to use a map and compass.
How many will be in our group?
I like to keep group sizes small, so generally a maximum of 5 people all of which will be in the same boat as you. If you would prefer to complete a challenge on a one to one basis please ask and I will do my best to accommodate. Dates and costs may vary.
What would be the overnight accommodation arrangements?
A local small bed & breakfast or guest house. Always ensured to be clean and welcoming. Single rooms can be arranged if preferred.
What happens if I cant keep up with the rest of the group?
One of my reasons for keeping small group sizes it that everyone is of a similar ability. No one will ever be left behind or made to feel like any sort of hinderance to the rest of the group. We start and fitness the challenge together as a TEAM!
What happens if I need to cancel?
If you cancel within four weeks of the challenge unfortunately no refund can be offered as it does not leave enough time to find someone to fill your place and a refund would ultimately increase the cost for the other members of the group. Outside of 4 weeks a full refund can be given if a replacement can be found. I would recommend taking out a personal travel / holiday insurance for peace of mind.
Can I pay a deposit or instalments?
This is dependent on how much time there is between booking and the challenge date. A £50 deposit would be payable up front to cover the cost of the mountain guide and instalments can be agreed if necessary.
